Treatment Process

Primary, Secondary Treatment, and Tertiary Treatment, Including Disinfection

PRIMARY TREATMENT: floating grease is skimmed off and sinking solids are removed using original sedimentation tank and digester.

SECONDARY TREATMENT: Natural bacteria consume organic solids using new fixed film reactors on top on new secondary tanks.

TERTIARY TREATMENT: Sand filters were built in 1993 to add tertiary treatment to the plants process.

DISINFECTION: Chlorine disinfection and then dichlorination to protect Bay life using new chloring contact tanks.

SOLIDS HANDLING: using improved facilities and new thickener tank and digester.

CONTROL AND STORAGE: New chemical storage and computer control facilities.
