Sausalito-Marin City Sanitary District Announces Special Board Meeting to Discuss Initial Background Information for Sewer Rate Allocation Study

Sausalito, CA – April 18, 2012 - The Sausalito-Marin City Sanitary District has retained an independent consultant to evaluate its method for allocating sewer service charges among its residential and commercial customers. The results of this study will assist the District in conducting an analysis to better understand and determine sewer flows and costs of service between user classes. To help inform and educate the community, several public meetings will be held over the next few months as the study progresses toward a Board decision regarding potential changes to customer rates.

The District Board of Directors has scheduled the meeting for Monday, April 30th at 7:30 p.m. to discuss relevant background information, including allocation methods in practice by other local agencies. The public is invited to attend the meeting which will be held at the City of Sausalito City Council Chambers, located at 420 Litho Street in Sausalito.

More information on the ongoing Sewer Rate Allocation Study is available on the District’s Web site at www.smcsd.net. There is an option to sign up to receive updates about the study as it progresses and to leave your questions and comments for the Board and District Staff.
